Preview: Warrington Town vs Chester

A huge derby clash awaits Warrington Town this Saturday as they welcome Chester to the Cal.Delivery Stadium in the National League North.

The Yellows come into this fixture on the back of a 0-0 draw away at Scarborough Athletic on Tuesday night.

Chester will aim for their fourth consecutive victory when they visit WA4 tomorrow afternoon and an opportunity to close the gap with the current league leaders Chorley.

Below, we've compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

Noah Halford's loan spell with Warrington Town has expired. The young Bolton defender will now take up an opportunity with FC United of Manchester.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Paul Carden following the 0-0 draw against Scarborough Athletic in midweek.

Jak McCourt preview

New Warrington Town midfielder Jak McCourt feels the quality of the squad will show once new signings settle, and is confident that they can turn performances into wins sooner rather than later.

Last week, the 29-year-old joined the Yellows on a three-month loan from Ashton United.

McCourt’s first few days in a Warrington Town shirt have been hectic, having featured twice already in the middle of the park against Rushall Olympic and Scarborough Athletic.

While admitting new signings can take time to gel, McCourt is certain that an upturn in results will come as the Yellows look to build on successive, hard-fought performances on the road when Chester visit the Cal.Delivery Stadium this weekend.

Ahead of Saturday's game, he said: “We’ve got a good balance in terms of experience and younger lads. The longer we play together, the easier it’ll become.

“I know we have a good team here. The league position may not show it, but we should be higher and we will be higher.

“We got ourselves into good positions on Tuesday night. We just need to be more creative and positive with our end product.”
