Warrington Town have signed striker Ben Elliott as recruitment continues ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 24-year-old finished as top scorer for two clubs last season - bagging eight for Prescot Cables in the Northern Premier League and then 16 for West Didsbury & Chorlton in North West Counties.
He scored against the Yellows for Prescot, before he made a return to his former club closer to his home near Wilmslow while he completed qualifications relating to his career in accounting.
Manager Paul Carden said: “Ben was somebody I’ve liked for a couple of years. He was actually flagged to me a while ago by [former Warrington Town manager] Tommy Lawson. He was out watching games and mentioned there’s a lad scoring a lot of goals at that level, and then you see him make his move up and he scored against us last season as well.
“It’s been a while since we’ve brought in a forward who has scored that many goals. He’s got a real hunger to do well and push on, and they’re the type of players that we need.”
Elliott follows former Prescot team-mates Jack Goodwin and Alex McNally to Cantilever Park, alongside midfielders Lewis Earl and Bobby Bjork, striker Ewan Bange and goalkeeper Mateusz Hewelt, who have already been signed this summer.
He said: "I wanted to drop down last year for personal reasons, and my plan was always to bounce back up. I spoke to Cards and his ambition is clear, and it’s something I really want to be involved with.
"I think this is definitely the club for me. I’m hungry, I love to get in behind and to make chances and get shots away, get plenty of touches on the ball to link up with other players and just being a handful really.
"At first, the step up was a jump and it took a bit of adjustment but I think as time goes on, you just learn to become a bit smarter.
"I was at Altrincham for a few years and then went to university, so I sort of took a step back from football. Then when I finished there, I got back into non-league.
"It gives you a different perspective in the changing room. I was very focused on education and getting qualifications, whereas now I’ve got that done, I’ve got more time to fully commit to football and give it my all.
"It’s good coming in and knowing Jack and Alex, I’m excited to see them again, but otherwise to me it’s a whole new team to get involved with and I can’t wait to get started.”
