Warrington Town secured another hard-earned point on the road with a goalless draw at Scarborough Athletic.
Connor Woods struck a post in the second half in what was the closest either side came, as the Yellows extended their unbeaten run away from home in National League North to seven games.
Scarborough hit the woodwork themselves in the first half, Harry Green’s deflected shot coming off the top of the crossbar, in what was an open game that didn’t result in too many clear cut chances.
There was a return in midfield for Matty McDonald, who sat out Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Rushall through suspension, while Woods started through the middle in the absence of front man Josh Amis.
Alex Purver was everywhere for Scarborough and he had the first chance on eight minutes, cleared off the line by Peter Clarke after Kieran Weledji had got in along the byline on the right.
Green was then shown a yellow card for simulation after going down in the Yellows box, and he looked like the main threat for the hosts.
His chance came on 35 minutes, his shot from 25 yards out looping over Dan Atherton courtesy of a deflection and going out off the crossbar.
Atherton saved from Green towards the end of the first half, moments after Elliot Morris had forced a routine save out of Scarborough ‘keeper Ryan Whitley.
Both sides had early chances at the start of the second half, Weledji’s low shot saved by Atherton, and at the other end Clarke’s header forced Whitley to scamper across to his right and push wide.
Atherton made the best save of the game to deny Frank Mulhern, adjusting well mid-air after the shot took a deflection.
It was on the hour mark that Woods ran at two men and then hit a shot from 25 yards out that cracked the keeper’s right hand post, for what turned out to be the last real clear opportunity as both sides had to settle for a point.
