Preview: Buxton vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town are on the road at Buxton on Saturday in their final 2024/25 National League North season fixture.

The Yellows endured a difficult second campaign at Step 2 and will begin preparations to bounce straight back in the Northern Premier League next season.

Before that, Paul Carden's men will make the trip to Derbyshire, where they face Buxton in their final fixture of the season.

Last weekend, his side ended a run of eight consecutive league defeats following their 0-0 draw at home against Southport, and they will be aiming to round the season off on a positive note with a victory tomorrow afternoon.

Below, we've compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

Josh Amis was named in the squad for Easter Monday's draw against Southport, but did not feature off the bench after picking up a knock in Good Friday's defeat against Marine.

Likewise, midfielder Matty McDonald was ruled out of action on Monday, while Devarn Green appeared as a late substitute. The trio will be assessed ahead of tomorrow's trip to Buxton.

Sam Gill preview

Warrington Town midfielder Sam Gill says the opportunity to represent his hometown club in the National League North has left him feeling more determined than ever to take his game to new heights.

After a series of brief substitute appearances earlier in the campaign, Gill has become a mainstay of the starting XI in recent weeks, starting each of the last three games.

Two of those appearances came over the Easter weekend, with the 20-year-old featured on the left wing against Marine on Good Friday before starting in a more natural central position during Monday's goalless draw with Southport.

"It was a proud moment to represent my hometown club," he said.

"I started off around five years of age at Warrington, and this club has been a big part of my football journey so far.

"It has felt great to be on the pitch and get a chance to prove what I can do at this level. Hopefully I can pay back the faith which has been shown in me.

"I’m feeling confident that I’ve developed my game enough to be able to cope with the demands of this level, so I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next season and progressing further."
