Preview: Warrington Town vs Morpeth Town

Warrington Town welcome Morpeth Town to the Cal.Delivery Stadium on Saturday for more Northern Premier League action.

The Yellows will put their eight-game unbeaten home league run on the line this weekend with a tough clash against the Highwaymen.

Paul Carden's were forced to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw away at Workington last Saturday, a result which extended their unbeaten run in the league to four games.

The last meeting with Morpeth Town took place in March 2023, when the Yellows emerged triumphant at Craik Park with a dominant 4-0 victory, thanks to goals from Connor Woods, Dec Walker, Evan Gumbs and Josh Amis.

Below, we've compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

Left-back Jack Doyle will return to the matchday squad after missing last weekend's trip to Cumbria through suspension.

Defender Troy Bourne is one of several players nearing fitness; however, tomorrow's fixture may come too soon for him.

Paul Carden preview

Warrington Town manager Paul Carden insists his side must back up their battling draw against Workington with a good performance against an in-form Morpeth Town.

Max Thompson opened the scoring for the Yellows in the second half, before the Cumbrians fired back as both sides left Borough Park honours even.

It was a result that Carden believes can only be positive with a strong display against the Highwaymen on Saturday afternoon.

"On Saturday, I said to the lads after the game at Workington that a point is only a good one if we can back it up at home," Carden said.

"It was a really scrappy game, which we knew it would be on that kind of surface. We just have to take the result and move on.

"A point on the road is a good point if you back it up in the next game.

"We can't underestimate Morpeth. They've put together a bit of a run over the last month or so and got a good win against Rushall last time out.

"At all levels of football, sides who are complacent are the ones who get bit on the behind, and we need to make sure that doesn’t happen to us."
