Preview: Peterborough Sports vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town make the trip to Cambridgeshire this Saturday as they prepare to face off against Peterborough Sports in the National League North.

The Yellows come into this fixture without a win in eight league games, with their most recent outing ending in a 1-0 defeat at home to league leaders Curzon Ashton.

Peterborough Sports meanwhile, sit three places and three points above Town in 16th, with their most recent four games ending in draws. Paul Carden's men will be hoping for a repeat of the reverse fixture back in August, with Connor Woods firing a free-kick home to secure all three points at the Cal.Delivery Stadium.

Below, we've compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

Captain Josh Amis will remain sidelined for this weekend's trip to Peterborough as he continues to serve his three-match suspension.

Connor Woods is expected to be available having suffered a late knock in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Curzon Ashton.

Paul Carden preview

Warrington Town manager Paul Carden believes that his team must find their confidence again if they are to overcome their difficult run of form.

The Yellows are winless in eight league outings and are yet to register a goal from open play during that period.

Despite their troubles in front of goal, Carden insists that they must stick with one another if they are to dig themselves out of the rut that they're currently in.

"Confidence is a big thing," Carden said.

"On Tuesday, we had a shot in the second half which their keeper spills, but we’re already making their way back instead of following it in.

"That’s a mindset of not being proactive and forward-thinking, you’re already thinking about dropping into your shape again.

"In the time in which we haven’t scored a goal, it does creep in and it’s a factor.

"We’re working on things – set-pieces, movement patterns and ways in which we can hurt teams – but at times, we’re trying to be too nice and precise.

"We’re not giving the front lads enough supply but when it does get up there, are we then doing enough to make chances and goals?

"At the minute, we’re not. We have to stick together – that’s always the message whether we’re flying or struggling.

"We’ll never get anywhere unless we’re together."
