Preview: Farsley Celtic vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town return to National League North action this Saturday as they take on Farsley Celtic at Silverlands.

The Yellows be hoping that their mid-week 1-0 victory over Stockport County in the Cheshire Senior Cup will provide them with some much-needed momentum as they look to end their run of four consecutive league defeats.

It will also be an important fixture given the context both teams find themselves in. Due to goal difference, Farsley sit just below Town in 20th place, and a win for either side would provide them with some breathing room between the bottom four places.

Below, we've compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

Player/coach Craig Noone, who joined the club last Wednesday, will be available to make his debut in the clash at Silverlands after receiving international clearance to play, while the club are working to finalise new additions ahead of tomorrow's trip.

However, Paul Carden will be without the services of midfielder Matty McDonald who will serve a one-match suspension after being sent off for two yellow cards in last weekend's defeat away at Kidderminster Harriers.

Paul Carden preview

Warrington Town manager Paul Carden states that the next two games will be a defining point for the club as they look to avoid becoming embroiled in a relegation battle heading into the business end of the season.

With 24 points apiece to their name, the Yellows travel to Silverlands tomorrow afternoon to face Farsley Celtic, before making the journey to the current basement side Needham Market just a week later.

It's a must-win game for both sides, and Carden is hoping that his team can replicate the same effort levels that he witnessed in their 2-0 defeat to league leaders Kidderminster Harriers last Saturday.

"I say it all the time and it’s not just a cliché to throw away, but they’re all big," he said.

"Given the situation we’re in, every Saturday, Tuesday or whenever we play is a big game because it’s three points at stake.

"We’ll be defined by the games against teams in and around us. That’s what we’ve got coming up and we need to make sure our work rate is there because it certainly was against, for me, the best team I’ve seen in this league.

"We’ve got to keep going because there’s a lot of games to play and a lot of points at stake."
