Warrington Town forward Elliot Morris admits he is relishing the opportunity to step up the divisions and make an impact at his new club.
The former City of Liverpool attacker
joined the club ahead of Tuesday's Liverpool Senior Cup defeat to Southport and was drafted straight into the starting XI for his debut.
While a much-changed Yellows fell to defeat in the competition after a 14-year hiatus, manager Paul Carden praised the performance of his new recruit, likening his style of play to that of former Town winger Jack Mackreth, who made over 100 appearances for the club between 2018-22.
"I can’t wait to get going at this level," Morris said.
"I know it’s going to take a little bit of time to find my feet, but I’m hungry to hit the ground running and make an impact straight away to help the side out as much as I can.
"It was a really enjoyable experience making my debut on Tuesday night, despite the result.
"I thought that on the whole, there were a lot of positives that we can take into our upcoming games."
Supporters will have to wait a little while longer to see Morris make his next competitive appearance for the Yellows.
He is ineligible to face Southport in the FA Trophy this weekend - having featured in the earlier rounds of the competition for City of Liverpool - but could make his first league start on November 23 when Town travel to Rushall Olympic, with a trip to Cammell Laird in the Cheshire Senior Cup taking place between those fixtures.
At his former club, Morris found real form in front of goal, scoring 26 times over the past 12 months to help the Purps reach the Northern Premier League West Division play-off final.
He was also named in the NPL West Division Team of the Year whilst at Skelmersdale United in 2022/23, finishing as the second highest goalscorer in the division.
"I met the lads and staff for the first time on Tuesday night, and there's a really good atmosphere in the dressing room, with a good mixture of youth and experience," Morris added.
"Having played against a number of the current squad over the past few years, I know the quality that’s in there.
"I’m a direct, pacey, wide player who’ll work hard for the team. I love chipping in with goals and assists, but the most important thing is putting three points on the board week in, week out.
"Hopefully I can continue this season's form in front of goal, to add to the already quality group that we've got at the club."
