Sharing the passion for football with local family hub

Local children have had their first taste of live football, thanks to a partnership between Warrington Town and Westy Children’s Centre.

The club responded to a request from the centre last season to provide tickets for families engaged with them, starting with the 1-0 win over Buxton last December.

The initiative continued at the beginning of the 2025/26 season, with another group of 15 attending one of the early-season home matches.

Over the past few seasons, the Yellows fanbase has grown significantly, particularly among the Under 16s age group, which made up 23% of season ticket holders in the last campaign.

Amy Shaw, family hub practitioner at Warrington Borough Council, said: “We are pleased to be working with Warrington Town and their support is providing an exciting opportunity to engage isolated teens in the community who share a passion for football.

“Some of the children who have attended have excitedly told me stories about the game they’ve seen and for that we are very grateful.”

Westy Children’s Centre, which is one of two family hubs servicing south Warrington, is based on Tinsley Street just half a mile from the Cal.Delivery Stadium, and around the corner from the club shop on Knutsford Road.

In the family hubs, there is a range of support for families including parent and child play sessions, midwifery and health services and CAB to name a few.

You can find more information about the services and support here.
