Warrington Town set up a Cheshire Senior Cup semi-final tie with Stalybridge Celtic by beating Crewe Alexandra 1-0 on Tuesday night.
Under 21s striker Will Adams marked his first senior start for the club with the only goal of the game inside six minutes, turning sharply in the box and firing a right-footed shot home.
Matty McDonald, who came through the youth system at Crewe, had the two best other chances of the first half, winning the ball back high up the field on both occasions, only to be denied by the leg of Tom Booth on the first and then hitting his
shot wide on the second.
The young Crewe side enjoyed a lot of the ball but never looked like breaking down the Yellows.
It was 75 minutes until Dan Atherton had a save of note to make, pushing Luca Moore’s shot over the bar, minutes after Fin Roberts had fired a shot just over the bar.
The Yellows will now host Stalybridge in the last four, next Tuesday (March 25).
