Preview: Workington vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town return to Northern Premier League action this Saturday as they prepare to make the trip to Cumbria to face Workington.

The Yellows ended a 13-month-long wait for a league win on the road last weekend, beating Hyde United 4-1 at the Project Solar UK Stadium.

Despite being knocked out of the Cheshire Senior Cup following their 2-0 defeat to Stockport Town in midweek, Paul Carden's side will be keen to extend their league winning streak to four games with a trip to Borough Park, where they will face a Workington side determined to climb from the foot of the league table.

The last meeting between the two sides took place in February 2019, with Dylan Vassallo's late brace securing all three points for the Yellows in a hard-fought battle in Cumbria.

Team news

Chris Doyle and Jack Doyle are missing through injury and suspension. Chris is facing more than four months on the sidelines through a knee injury, while Jack is banned after accumulating five yellow cards.

Elliot Morris could be named on the bench to make an appearance in a league game for the first time since February, after coming through 45 minutes against Stockport Town on Monday night. Matty Tweedley is also available for selection.
