Report: Stockport Town 2-0 Warrington Town

Warrington Town exited the Cheshire Senior Cup following a 2-0 defeat away at Stockport Town.

Forward Elliot Morris made his long-awaited return from injury on Monday night.

Having not featured since February after suffering a torn meniscus, Morris played the first 45 minutes of Town’s Cheshire Senior Cup defeat at Stockport Town as he gradually builds his readiness for more regular action.

New signing Harry Flowers, who made his debut off the bench during Saturday’s 4-1 victory at Hyde United following a lengthy injury absence of his own due to a ruptured Achilles, also got another 60 minutes of action as manager Paul Carden opted for a mixed side for the second-round tie.

Three players who started at Hyde did so again at Stockport Sports Village as goalkeeper Liam Isherwood, midfielder Reece Daly and defender Jack Doyle, who is unavailable for Saturday’s trip to Workington through suspension, lined up for Town.

However, they fell behind to their hosts, who ply their trade three divisions below them in the North West Counties League Premier Division, when Oumar Camara prodded home the rebound after Isherwood had saved George Kattah’s effort.

And Kattah made the game safe late on as he charged through on goal and finished calmly to secure a 2-0 victory for the hosts.

Several youngsters from the club’s under-21s saw valuable game time at senior level, including midfielder Liam McGrath, who played the full 90 minutes, while Siraj Hussein, Brogan Clark and Sam Williamson came off the bench.

There was also time on the field for Carden’s son William, who came on as a second-half substitute.

Stockport Town: Schofield, Padden, Lomakin-Rogers, Turnbull, Cole, Monaghan, Kelly, Atkinson, Kattah, Camara, Barugh. Subs: Kvaternik, Fowles, Green, Diop, Redshaw.

Warrington Town: Isherwood, Lloyd, Waters, McGrath, Doyle, Flowers (Williamson), Morris (Brazier), Tweedley, Isong (Hussein), Daly (Clark), Gabidon (Gabidon).
