Preview: Warrington Town vs Hebburn Town

Warrington Town are back on home soil this Saturday as they host Hebburn Town at the Cal.Delivery Stadium for more Northern Premier League action.

After enduring a disappointing February, the Yellows come into this fixture with back-to-back wins behind them, after consecutive 2-1 victories over Hyde United and, most recently, Lancaster City.

This weekend, they welcome the current league leaders, Hebburn Town, to WA4. Paul Carden's side will be looking to avenge their 8-0 defeat to the Hornets back at the start of November, while Hebburn will be keen to maintain and extend their two-point advantage at the summit of the table.

Below, we've compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

There are no new injury worries for Paul Carden, who has a fully fit squad to pick from, with the exception of long-term absentees Josh Amis, Chris Doyle and David Morgan.

Kallan Murphy is in contention for a place in the starting team after completing his return from suspension off the bench in last week’s win over Lancaster City.

Yellows’ next assignment is a tough one as they welcome league leaders Hebburn Town – the side who inflicted a humiliating 8-0 defeat upon them in November’s reverse fixture – to the Cal.Delivery Stadium, but they go into it buoyant after back-to-back victories.

That upturn has kept their outside chance of gatecrashing the play-offs alive – what was an 11-point gap to the top five a fortnight ago has now more than halved in size.

Town sit ninth and five points adrift of the play-offs having played more games than every side around them, but Carden is hopeful they can still play their part in what is shaping up to be an exciting end to the Northern Premier League Premier Division season.

“Who knows what can happen?” he said.

“You can only play the next game and the next team and if you win your games, who knows?

“We looked through the results on Saturday and it’s game on all over the league.

“Obviously, the top three are running away with it and it could be anyone’s from them, but there’s still a few teams thinking they’ve got an outside chance of the play-offs.
