Preview: Gainsborough Trinity vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town return to Northern Premier League action this Saturday with a trip to Gainsborough Trinity.

The Yellows' poor run continued last weekend, as they were eliminated from the FA Cup at the first time of asking following a 3-0 defeat at home against Bamber Bridge.

Paul Carden's side now turn their attention back to league matters and travel to Lincolnshire in search of their second win of the campaign.

The two sides last met in March 2023, with Josh Amis securing a point on the road with a penalty in a 1-1 draw.

Paul Carden is hoping to have at least two new faces in his squad for the trip to Gainsborough, subject to clearance. A third, who signed shortly after last week’s FA Cup deadline, is eligible to play, though could miss out, having visited an emergency dentist this week.

Striker Enock Lusiama is a possibility to return, having missed both games since scoring the winner at home to Ilkeston.

Josh Amis is still recovering in the hospital after twice suffering from infections following his recent surgery. Everyone at the club passes on their best wishes, and he has listened to games this season via Yellows Radio.

Kallan Murphy is expecting the results of the scan on the ankle injury he sustained at Leek on Monday. Scott Butler is still on crutches following his foot injury. Evan Gumbs and Elliot Morris are stepping up their respective comebacks from long-term injuries with light training.
