Preview: Chester vs Warrington Town

It's derby day for Warrington Town as they make the short journey to Chester in the National League North.

The Yellows come into this clash on the back of their first win since late December in an important 2-0 victory over Rushall Olympic at the weekend.

Their quest to avoid the drop continues at the Deva Stadium with a battle against local rivals Chester as they look to bridge the five-point gap towards a safety spot.

Below, we've compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

Bohan Dixon will be sidelined for tonight's trip to Chester as he serves the final game of his three-match suspension.

There were no fresh injury concerns for Paul Carden following Saturday's victory at home.

Paul Carden preview

Warrington Town manager Paul Carden hopes his side can replicate their performance from the weekend as they gear up for another tough encounter with Chester.

The previous meeting between the two sides ended in a feisty 1-1 draw at the Cal.Delivery Stadium, with the Seals equalising late on after Connor Woods struck home the opener from the penalty spot.

Chester have enjoyed a successful campaign so far in the National League North with Calum McIntyre's men currently sitting third, just three points away from league leaders Brackley Town.

Despite this, their recent run of form has taken a dip - with two draws and a defeat in their last three outings - and Paul Carden is hoping that his side can build on the momentum from Saturday's victory to cause an upset at the Deva Stadium.

"We’ve got to try and keep going and make sure it propels us," Carden said.

"Confidence should be high. Individuals performed, but it was a good team performance as well.

"Hopefully, we can produce a performance like we did on Saturday and like we did when we played them at home.

"They’ve been on a great run and have been top of the league and flying. But there are teams in and around us who have been able to string runs together - that’s got to be our aim now.

"It doesn’t matter who we’re playing and where we’re playing them, our focus is on getting three points and that will be the same on Tuesday."
