Jay Harris signs new deal

Midfielder Jay Harris has penned a new deal at Warrington Town for the 2025/26 season.

Harris will enter his fifth season at the Cal.Delivery Stadium, having already made 134 appearances for the club since his debut in 2021.

He has featured throughout the pre-season programme, scoring a fine goal in the win away at Maghull.

Manager Paul Carden said: “He looks really sharp. Jay was one of the first players I met from the original squad, and I made it clear I wanted him to stay.

"It was important he stayed, but it was important he stayed himself for the right reasons.

“He’s not been hunting for it, he’s wanted to stay but it had to be right for everyone. I’m glad we’ve got it sorted out.

“He’s played and he’s been training like mad over the summer, and he looks as fit as he did when he was at Tranmere and Wrexham, which is a credit to him.

“He’s got a real determination about him this summer. Even towards last season in the situation we were in, he was still leading all the time and trying to drive the team forward.

“That’s what we’re going to need from him this season. He’s a big player, he’s a big character with big ability. He defies his age at times, and when he’s on it, like he’s shown this pre-season, he can be a real big player at this level.”

Harris was originally signed by Carden ahead of the 2021/22 season and he made his debut against Matlock, scoring his first goal for the club in the festive fixture away at Witton Albion that season.

Prior to arriving at the Yellows, Harris played for Wrexham, Tranmere, Macclesfield Town, Chester and Accrington Stanley after coming through the Everton youth system.
