Highly-rated midfielder Lewis Earl joins Yellows

Warrington Town’s second new signing of the summer is highly-rated midfielder Lewis Earl.

The 23-year-old arrives from Bootle, where he was an ever present last season, having previously played there on loan from Chester.

He came through the scholarship system at Preston, and has also had spells with Marine and Bury, where he has showed his versatility by playing in numerous positions.

Manager Paul Carden said: “He’s been on the radar for a while. He’s played a good amount of games and he’s the type of footballer we want, he’s got a good energy about him.

"He’s quick for his size, but a talented footballer as well. The challenge for him next season from us, which he knows, is that for all his good play, his passing ability and energy, can we get goals out of him? In terms of his progress, that’s his next step.

“The fans will really enjoy seeing him because of how he is as a player. He’s very cultured, and we’re delighted to have got him on board.

“He’s the type of player who can play anywhere because he’s got good game understanding, which is invaluable at any level, but I see him as a midfielder and that’s where I’ve seen him play where he’s impressed me the most.”

Earl follows the signing announcement of winger Jack Goodwin, whose move to the club was confirmed yesterday. Three more signings are set to be announced shortly.

He said: “I’ve always wanted to play as high as I can. This was a good move. I spoke to the manager, I like how it’s sounding this season, so hopefully we can go and kick on again now and see how we do this season.

“We’ve got a few new lads coming in, and with what the manager is saying, it’s all sounding very positive.”
