Warrington Town have signed defender Alex McNally, who returns for a second spell at the club.
McNally, 22, was part of the squad that prepared for the 2023/24 season in the National League North, before joining Prescot Cables on dual-registration.
He became a mainstay of their side, making 46 appearances that season, ultimately joining them permanently.
Part of their promotion-winning team in 2024, scoring in their play-off final win over 1874 Northwich, he then had a spell in the National League North with Marine.
Manager Paul Carden said: “He’s a versatile defender, very strong and probably a little bit old school. He played most games for Prescot last season, and I think he cleaned up at their Player of the Year awards.
"He’s young, he’s 22, but he’s got a good level of experience. He comes here again with an appetite to want to do well and kick on.”
McNally never made a first team appearance during his previous spell at Cantilever Park, though did feature in pre-season games.
Last season, he only missed three league games at Prescot.
He said: “I’m made up, I know Cards well, it was a no-brainer to sign. I had a really good time at Prescot, got a promotion, and obviously it was difficult last year, but I’ve been learning every week and trying to make the most of it and improve on my game.
“Playing regularly is my aim, to try to make my mark and be part of a good, successful team.
"I already know the club: there are some good people here, a good fanbase, so hopefully we’ll give them something to cheer for this year.”
