Bohan Dixon has praised his new teammates ahead of the upcoming season, as the Yellows prepare for their Northern Premier League opener against Basford United on Saturday.
Pre-season saw Paul Carden’s side register a notable 3-0 win away at Football League side Tranmere Rovers, as part of a campaign that took in nine friendlies.
The upcoming campaign will see the likes of experienced Michael Rose, former Tranmere defender Evan Gumbs and creative midfielder Craig Carney represent the Yellows, alongside fellow new recruits Joel Amado, Luke Duffy, Callum Grogan, Charlie Munro and Matthew Regan.
A trio of further signings were announced this week, including right-back James Baillie, who has featured as a trialist in pre-season, and the return of loanee Scott Brown. Forward Iyrwah Gooden will be the only player not to have featured for the Yellows already when the season kicks-off.
And Dixon has confidence in his new teammates.
“What we have always had in this team is hard work, good energy and banter and the new lads have came straight into that,” he said.
“We’ve landed some quality players. Pre-season has had its ups and downs, but thats what pre-season is for. We’ve done better against better teams than lower teams, and that’s where we have to get the right balance.”
Dixon enters his third season with the club, and was part of the 2018/19 team that progressed to the super play-off final.
The squad start the 2020/21 campaign away to Basford United, before returning to Cantilever Park on Tuesday in the FA Cup first round qualifying against South Shields.
“Our goal is to get promoted so we will go Basford to get a result,” said Dixon.
“I can’t wait to get started. It’s been a very long time for everyone and it’s also great to see fans slowly getting back in.”
