Squad injury and loan update

Chris Doyle is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after going off injured during last week’s win at Hyde United.

The centre-back, who has been on the winning team seven times in the nine matches he has played for the Yellows, requires surgery on tears to his medial and lateral meniscus, which will keep him out for 4-6 months.

He joins fellow centre-backs Scott Butler and Troy Bourne on the injury list, with Butler unlikely to return before Christmas.

In more positive news, forward Elliot Morris made his first appearance in nine months during the Cheshire Senior Cup tie at Stockport Town on Monday.

Morris last featured for the Yellows in the 1-1 draw against Chorley back in February, and has been working back to fitness. He will likely be included in the squad for the trip to Workington on Saturday.

Kallan Murphy has started to do more light individual training, though there is no timescale on his return.

Skipper Josh Amis and David Morgan are sidelined long-term through their respective injuries, with Amis having spent additional time in the hospital due to infections picked up as a result of his knee surgery.

Dontai Gabidon’s loan spell expires after the trip to Bamber Bridge on December 9, while Liam Brazier recently extended his loan period from Port Vale until at least January 4th.
