The Yellows travelled to Ellesmere Port to face Vauxhall Motors in the Cheshire FA Women’s Cup.
Town had come off the back of two defeats in two weeks so looked to turn things around and improve results in cup action against the lower-league Motors.
Chloe Green opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a powerful header from Hannah Rhodes’ corner that Motors goalie Annie Davies couldn’t stop.
Lilly Howarth then doubled Town’s lead with an outstanding finish in the top corner, earning her first goal as a Yellow.
Town controlled the ball extremely well for the full 90, especially in the second half where they managed the clock and the game well.
Motors rarely had any offensive football thanks to the possession the Yellows had, but when the home team did have chances, the Town defence and goalkeeper Katie Donohue came through strongly, resulting in her second clean sheet of the season.
Ultimately, it was the win that counted the most for the Yellows who are now through to the quarter-finals.
The Yellows are back in league action next week and will look to bag another win as they welcome Macclesfield to Warrington.
