Warrington Town came from behind to earn a deserved point on the road at Prescot Cables.
The Yellows were the better team for large parts of the match but had fallen behind on the stroke of half-time, Ben Elliott punishing a mistake in the centre circle.
Mark Isong’s first goal on loan from Bolton, a header from a Reece Daly corner with 10 minutes to play, secured a draw and a first point on the road this season.
Injuries continue to bite Paul Carden’s squad, and with recent signing Max Thompson sidelined, Isong was given the nod to partner Enoch Lusiama up front from the start.
A good run by Isong created the first goal-mouth action of the match inside three minutes, Matthew Tweedley having two shots blocked from close range.
On 19, Lusiama pounced on a short back-pass by James Devine but slipped as he went to round ‘keeper Calvin Hare and the chance was gone.
Isong had a shot wide of Hare’s left-hand post and then a Lusiama cross from the left was diverted just past his own post by Francis Smith.
But the Yellows went in a goal behind at the break, Troy Bourne being caught in possession in the centre circle and Prescot attacked in numbers, Elliott’s initial pull back blocked and then Jack Goodwin’s shot was saved, only for the rebound to fall for Elliott to fire home.
It was yet another goal conceded in the minutes either side of half-time for the Yellows, who went on to dominate the second half.
Matty Waters’ free-kick hit the junction of post and bar, before Lusiama and Isong both failed to get on the end of an excellent cross in by Melhado.
The pressure eventually told on 80, when Daly’s corner was headed home by Isong.
