Preview: Hyde United vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town are back on the road this Saturday as they make the short journey to Hyde United in the Northern Premier League.

The Yellows come into this fixture on the back of two victories at the Cal.Delivery Stadium against promotion hopefuls Stockton Town and, most recently, FC United of Manchester, keeping clean sheets in their 2-0 and 3-0 wins, respectively.

Those results extended Town's home winning run to six games in all competitions, and Paul Carden's men now boast the best home record in the division, with 20 points from a possible 24.

However, it's their form on the road that they will be keen to improve. Town have only managed to pick up just one point from their seven away outings in the league this season, and this weekend, they travel to face a Hyde United outfit who have already bested them once this season, knocking the Yellows out of the FA Trophy with a 1-0 victory at the Project Solar UK Stadium at the start of October.

Below, we've compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

Midfielder Matthew Tweedley could feature for the first time since suffering an injury in the defeat to Stocksbridge Park Steels in October.

Forward Liam Brazier, who joined the club on loan from Port Vale ahead of the 2025/26 season, has extended his stay at the Yellows until January.

There were no fresh injury concerns for Paul Carden following Tuesday night's victory against FC United of Manchester.

For a “Jekyll and Hyde” team like Warrington Town, there could be no more fitting an opponent this weekend.

Indeed, they will be keen to show their best side – their “Dr Jekyll,” if you will – when they travel to Hyde United on Saturday and improve the most peculiar of records.

Princes on their own patch, paupers on anybody else’s – no Northern Premier League Premier Division team has taken more points at home than Paul Carden’s side, but no side has taken fewer on the road.

Indeed, the anomaly in their run of six victories in seven matches was their only away fixture of that sequence – and it was a pretty big one, given they were humbled 8-0 by Hebburn Town just a fortnight ago.

Since then, convincing home wins over high-fliers FC United of Manchester and Stockton Town have provided the perfect riposte, but now they must leave their home comforts behind again.

“We’ve maybe got to approach it a little bit differently – what that looks like, I’m not too sure,” manager Carden said when asked just how they can go about picking up their first league away win in 13 months.

“It can be a mindset thing, but we’ve certainly got to be confident wherever we go.

“With this squad of players, we shouldn’t fear anyone, but we’ve got to flip our mindset when we go away from home.

“We’re good enough to do it, but we’ve got to show it.”
