Kallan Murphy completes Yellows move

Warrington Town have signed Irish striker Kallan Murphy ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Murphy, 22, has previously featured for Marine, Guiseley and Matlock Town, and featured off the bench in the opening pre-season game against Altrincham on Saturday.

He has scored at the Cal.Delivery Stadium before, notching a consolation goal while playing for Matlock Town in a 3-1 win for the Yellows in October 2022, while he set up one of Marine’s goals in their 2-0 win in January.

Manager Paul Carden said: “I first saw Kallan a couple of years ago and I thought he was raw, he was hungry, he was non-stop, he was a pest, aggressive, his all-round game was outstanding.

“We played against him twice last season and again I thought he was non-stop, it was a similar performance. When we played at their place he caused us problems.

“He’s been training with us, and he’s showed that and he’s scored a couple of unbelievable goals. Last season he was moved about a bit, but when he’s played through the middle for Guiseley and Matlock, he’s got goals.

“A few years ago there was a fair bit of interest in him from league clubs, so I think he’s just one of those lads that needs a home somewhere where he can settle and grab hold of his own career.

He’s determined and wants to do well, and hopefully we can provide a platform for him to do that.

“We certainly want them goals and I know he is as well, and so he can come in and deliver for us.

“I want us to have that energy about us in the final third that I felt we didn’t really have last season. We need that energy, that pace, that running ability, being non-stop and we also need that guile and decisiveness to make things happen.

“Kallan’s certainly one of those players, and I think he can deliver goals with the right people playing around him and playing in the right environment.”

Murphy, who was named as a trialist on the teamsheet against Altrincham, will likely feature in the Yellows’ second pre-season friendly away at Maghull on Tuesday night.
