Jack Hont: There's real desire in this group

New Warrington Town left-back Jack Hont says he has been impressed by the belief within the squad since joining the club.

Hont swapped City of Liverpool for the Yellows last month, following Purps team-mate Elliot Morris to the Cal.Delivery Stadium on a permanent basis.

The 27-year-old has featured three times since joining. He made his home debut during the recent 1-1 draw with Chester, in front of 2,296 spectators - a club record for a regular season league game in WA4.

"I thought that everyone was quality to a man against Chester. I'm just disappointed that we couldn’t hold on to take all three points," Hont said.

"I can only speak going off the two weeks that I’ve been here, but I don’t think there's any lack of belief amongst the group.

"There’s a real desire to do well, from coaches to players. Curzon will be another test, but regardless of the fixture, you expect a tough game each week in this division and make sure to prepare in the right way.

"We’ll be up for the challenge, for sure. Hopefully we can give the home crowd something to cheer about too."

Following an injury to regular left-back Andy White, the club moved quickly to secure the services of Hont, who made 52 appearances in all competitions for City of Liverpool last season as they reached the NPL West Division play-off final.

For Hont, the opportunity to test himself at a higher level was a motivating factor behind the move and, following conversations with manager Paul Carden, he admits he was excited to link up with Town and help the club push further up the division.

“It's been an easy group to settle in with, which I’m thankful for.

"Once I heard Warrington were interested, I wanted to get it all sorted as quickly as possible to be honest.

"The conversations I had with Paul were really positive - he gave me great belief. I’d heard how good the club & support is, how good the squad is and how competitive the league is, and I felt as though I owed it to myself to make the step up and test myself. It was a no-brainer."
