The Yellows will travel to FC United in the next round of the FA Cup after easing past City of Liverpool 4-0.
It took just 57 seconds for the Yellows to hit the front in the replay, Alex Byrne finishing tidily from Ben Garrity’s pass, and they were three up by the break.
Tony Gray completed a comprehensive victory with a well-taken second half goal, and with FC United getting the better of Atherton Collieries in their replay, the Yellows will now travel to Broadhurst Park in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday September 21.
After Josh Amis’ last minute goal had forced a replay with a 2-2 draw on Saturday, a crowd of 1,099 turned out at the Berry Street Garage Stadium.
Within a minute, City of Liverpool defender XX Dalton appeared to pull up in a challenge and with him left in a heap, Garrity drove forward and found Byrne, who steered the ball past the ‘keeper for his first goal for the Yellows.
The home faithful were far from happy with that, insisting that the Yellows should have put the ball up, and Dalton was then carried off to be replaced by Ian Kearney.
Warrington were dominant and it was 2-0 on 27 minutes, Louis Barnes firing a first time effort across the goal and captain Mark Roberts swept home.
Matty Chadwick went close with a well hit half volley with the outside of his left foot, while the hosts were continually getting frustrated at their lack of possession and some of the decisions by the referee.
They could have no complaints about going in at half time behind though, and it was 3-0 with virtually the last kick of the half, Garrity firing home a loose ball through a ruck of bodies after City of Liverpool had only half cleared a free kick.
City of Liverpool dug in at the start of the second half and they had the better of the play until the hour mark, as they took the game to the Yellows.
Gray could have made it four on 67 minutes, taking a wonderful cross field ball in to the box and being denied by a lunging Kearney, who would then also deny Chadwick minutes later.
In between, Gray did get the fourth – Mitch Duggan keeping an attacking phase alive and creating the space for Gray to pick his spot to the keeper’s left.
The Yellows could have had more, and opted to give run outs to youngsters Tom Warren, Sian Kanu and Elliot Richards, though there was a late worry with Garrity hobbling off.
They are next in action at Radcliffe in the league on Saturday.
