Albinson: “We couldn’t have asked for a better start”

Goalkeeper Charlie Albinson says the team couldn’t have asked for a better start after winning three out of three in the league.

Paul Carden’s side sit on top of the Pitching In Northern Premier League table, with wins over Basford United, Gainsborough Trinity and most recently a 2-0 victory over Atherton Collieries at Cantilever Park.

And the side are yet to concede their first league goal of the season, with four successive clean sheets for Albinson between the sticks, with just the 6-5 FA Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to South Shields.

“It’s been a good start to the season, we’ve looked solid at the back and are scoring goals so we couldn’t have really asked for a better start,” said Albinson.

Training has been good so far. There’s still lads here from when I was here last time and I’m getting to know the new ones, but it’s been really competitive and the standards have been high pushing each other on.

Personally, I just to play as many games as possible, keeping clean sheets and pushing for promotion as we know we are capable of.”

The Yellows return to Cantilever Park this Saturday for the fourth consecutive game to face Whitby Town, who sit 11th in the league table with four points.

“It’s definitely another big game and a chance to put more points on the board and take an advantage of teams who aren’t playing being in the cup,” he said.

“I think we just prepare how we have for the past weeks, nothing changes in that respect for us.

“There are no easy games in the league so we can’t start easing off because of the good start. We’ve got to just continue to do what we’ve done since the beginning of the season.”
