Yellows fall to first defeat of season at Scarborough

TWO goals either side of half time earned Scarborough Athletic a comfortable win and end Warrington Town’s perfect start to the season.

Kieran Glynn’s header three minutes into the second half after Michael Coulson’s shot had been saved added to Ryan Watson’s penalty a minute before the break to see off the Yellows, who offered little in the way of a fightback.

The visitors weren’t happy with the penalty decision, given for an apparent handball in the goalmouth by Mitch Duggan from a Watson corner, and they never recovered from that blow.

Watson and Lewis Turner controlled the game from then, while man of the match Will Thornton and Dylan Cogill dealt comfortably with the threat of Warrington frontman Josh Amis, called up to the starting line-up barely minutes before kick-off after Jordan Buckley pulled up in the warm up.

It had been an open first half, with the Yellows shading it in terms of goal chances, Mark Roberts diverting a header that skimmed off the top of Ryan Whitley’s goal, who was otherwise largely unoccupied.

Dan Atherton saved from Coulson for the Seadogs best chance before the goals, and they could have had more in the final half hour – Turner denied by Atherton one-on-one and Nick Hutton heading over from six yards out.
