Warrington Town would like to send their condolences to the family and friends of former player Roy Tipping, who has passed away at the age of 92.
Tipping is 15th in the club’s all-time top goalscorer list, scoring 82 goals between 1954 and 1961, and was a key part of the 1960/61 Mid-Cheshire League-title winning side, scoring 10 goals in that campaign.
Described as a ‘sparkling winger’, Tipping played for the club when it was known as Stockton Heath and in the first season after the name change to Warrington Town.

He was a team-mate of England World Cup winner Roger Hunt, the pair forming part of a formidable attacking line for the club in the mid-late 1950s.
Tipping himself caught the eye of Liverpool in the early 1950s, with the then Liverpool manager Don Welsh writing to him to invite him to join the club.
Tipping played for Liverpool’s Central League side of the time, though never made a first team appearance for the Reds.
A Latchford lad, playing predominantly as an outside-right, he also represented Witton Albion and St Helens Town during his playing career.
Tipping lived in Grappenhall and died on December 30, 2025. May he Rest in Peace.
