Warrington Town have agreed to mutually terminate the contract of goalkeeper Tony Thompson.
Thompson, who played in every game but one during last season’s play-off winning campaign, was handed the number one shirt for the 2023/24 season in National League North, starting the first six games of the season.
But after being left out of the starting team for the trip to Brackley Town recently, he expressed his unhappiness at the decision and wanted to be in a position where he was playing every week.
Both parties have therefore agreed to a termination to enable Thompson to explore opportunities elsewhere.
Thompson departs the UNIS Compliance Stadium having made 56 appearances for the Yellows.
The club would like to thank Thompson for his contribution to bringing National League football to the town and wish him well for the future.
