Warrington Town Women made it three games unbeaten at the weekend as they claimed a 5-2 victory over Litherland REMYCA in the North West Women’s Regional League.
The Yellows previously beat Litherland 7-0 on the road at the end of October, picking up another three points against the Sefton-based outfit.
The game kicked off and Litherland had the better start of the two teams. REMYCA controlled possession for a lot of the opening 20 minutes but fortunately, no real chances came for the visitors.
It wasn’t until half an hour into the game when the scoreline was opened as Kerry Baker played a lovely through ball to Nicola Chatterley who took advantage of a one-on-one chance and slotted it past the keeper
The Yellows had finally found their rhythm towards the end of the half as chance after chance came – eventually, the Yellows doubled their lead in the 43rd minute and it was another special play between Chatterley and Baker; Nicola passed the ball between a defender’s legs to Kerry who made no mistake with the finish.

One minute later on the brink of half-time, the visitors reduced the deficit through a penalty as goalkeeper Katie Donohue brought down a Litherland forward in the box.
Half time shortly followed afterwards and manager Kevin Larkin encouraged the women to start strong in the next half and that is exactly what they did.
Yellows got the second half underway and straight away looked to get an early goal. The ball fell to Kerry Baker 30 yards out and she curled the ball beautifully into the top left corner to regain the two-goal lead.
Shortly before the hour mark, Larkin made a substitution as he brought on Sophie McDonald to replace Megan Osborne. Another substitution was made 10 minutes later as Hannah Rhodes swapped with Town captain Helen Dobson.
It wasn’t long until the next Yellows goal as in the 77th minute, Chloe Green rifled the ball home after the Litherland goalie was dispossessed near the wing trying to control the ball leading to an open net and an easy finish for the Yellows midfielder.
In the same minute, Larkin made another change as he brought on Reserves captain Sophie Dale for Carla Burton who possessed a massive work ethic and was threatening down the sideline all game long.

Yellows had another chance in the following minute as Katie Donohue booted the ball upfield towards Nicola Chatterley whose pressure on the REMY defence forced a Litherland player to kick the ball out for a corner kick; POTM Rachel Dickenson took the corner and her shot from the flag wasn’t too far from going into the net.
In the 84th minute, Kerry Baker had her hat trick as she collected the ball off of the sideline which Litherland players thought had gone out of play, cut into the box and buried it past the keeper to give the Yellows a four-goal lead.
A minute later, the visitors reduced the lead again as they caught the Yellows defence lacking and fired the ball into the net past Donohue who gave her best efforts but could not reach it.
The Yellows controlled possession for the rest of the game and it was another home win for Town after beating the Vixens the week prior.
The Yellows now sit in 4th place with 21 points from 13 games, three points from 2nd place and six points from the top.
They travel to Altrincham next week to face the Reds who have five points from 10 games.
