Southport gained revenge for their opening day defeat at home to Warrington Town with a 3-0 win at Cantilever Park.
The Yellows had opened up their debut season in the National League North with a 4-0 win in the reverse fixture, but it was a different story on Tuesday night as goals from Richie Bennett, Marcus Carver and Adam Anson earned the visitors a deserved three points.
Bennett brought down a long ball from Jack Doyle and slotted home to open the scoring after 12 minutes.
In-form Isaac Buckley-Ricketts had a chance immediately to equalise against his former club, Chris Renshaw doing enough to put him off, and later Matty McDonald drilled over the bar.

Six minutes before half time Southport scored a clinical second, Carver spinning away from Hannigan and bearing down on goal and then clipping the ball over Dan Atherton.
That gave Warrington a bit of a mountain that they never looked like climbing.
The closest they came was when Josh Amis, on as a substitute, headed down at the far post and a combination of Renshaw and the post kept the ball out, Renshaw staying down for treatment to a cut head sustained against the post.
From the corner, Renshaw shovelled away a header from Peter Clarke but moments later, the game was dead and buried as Southport netted a third.

Josh Hmami’s corner wasn’t dealt with and Adam Anson, an earlier substitution for injured captain David Morgan, scrambled the ball home at the back post for 3-0.
Even nine minutes injury time following a succession of knocks wasn’t anywhere near enough for the Yellows, who have a Saturday off this weekend ahead of next Tuesday’s trip to Farsley Celtic.
