Report: Radcliffe 0-3 Warrington Town

Warrington Town outlined their promotion credentials with a 3-0 win away at play-off rivals Radcliffe to extend their unbeaten run to 20 games.

Connor Woods struck in the second half to open the scoring, before late goals from Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and Josh Amis sealed another impressive victory.

The Yellows have taken seven points from nine in three away games in the last week, and now have a four-point cushion in third place in the table with four games remaining.

After taking a point on the road against fellow play-off rivals Gainsborough at the weekend, it was another tough encounter.

Jude Oyibo and Jake Thompson caused problems for the Yellows defence early doors, and from a set piece, Jack Evans lifted a shot over the bar. A dangerous ball from Oyibo was stopped in the goalmouth by Andy White and Tony Thompson had to pounce on the loose ball.

Oyibo curled a shot just over the bar before the best chance fell to Nicky Adams on the edge of the box, smacking the woodwork.

Having seen off the early threat, the Yellows started to grow in to the game and thought they had took the lead on 26 minutes when Woods bundled the ball home after Amis’ shot had been deflected, only for the offside flag to go up.

Woods did break the deadlock on 56 minutes. Amis held the ball up well and moved the ball right to Woods who had Connor O’Brien one-on-one and managed to create enough space to squeeze a shot away in to the far corner.

The Yellows had chances to double their lead too, Matty McDonald denied by ‘keeper Jack McIntyre after twisting his way through and then from the rebound, Luke Duffy’s shot was cleared off the line by Rick Smith.

Bohan Dixon curled a superb effort off the bar and then McIntyre denied Duffy at full stretch. Amis also forced McIntyre in to action after dribbling through Smith in the box.

One might have been enough but the game finished with plenty of action in the closing stages.

Oyibo was shown a straight red card for a bad tackle on Tom Hannigan, after which a member of the Radcliffe coaching staff was sent off, and manager Bobby Grant was also booked.

From the free-kick, substitute Buckley-Ricketts got free in the box and steered the ball past McIntyre to seal the points.

Amis added icing on the cake in stoppage time, lifting the ball beautiful over McIntyre from the edge of the box for his fourth goal in as many games.
