Warrington Town ran out 2-1 winners against local rivals Nantwich Town in their penultimate pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.
The match, played at the home of Whitchurch Alport, saw Mark Beesley’s squad lock horns with a Dabbers side managed by former Yellows boss Paul Carden.
Both teams started brightly and look to set the tempo early on, Jordan Buckley firing wide with the first chance of the contest.

After a couple of half-sights of goal for the Dabbers, Matty McDonald soon stung the palms of his opposition goalkeeper with a fine effort.
Connor Woods was next to go close after good build-up play by Luke Duffy, who went from provider to scorer nine minutes before half-time when his effort took a big deflection which wrong-footed the Nantwich keeper and found the back of the net.
The Yellows doubled their lead early in the second half, Bohan Dixon calmly sending the goalkeeper the wrong way after a foul by Jack Sherratt inside the box.

The Dabbers’ trialist shot-stopper made a couple more good saves to keep his side in the game, and with time running out, Nantwich grabbed a late consolation to reduce the margin of defeat as Byron Harrison headed home following a fine delivery from the right.
Due to the postponement of next week’s friendly at Bootle, the Yellows will round off preparations for the new campaign with a trip to Bamber Bridge on Saturday, in a repeat of last season’s Northern Premier League play-off final.
