Preview: Warrington Town vs Radcliffe

Warrington Town commence their Emirates FA Cup journey on Saturday as they host Radcliffe in the second qualifying round at the Cal.Delivery Stadium.

It’s the 10th anniversary of the Yellows’ historic first-round proper victory over Exeter, and they will be hoping to replicate this feat with another cup run, beginning against their old rivals The Boro this weekend.

Mark Beesley’s side comes into this clash on the back of a battling 1-1 draw away at Scunthorpe United in the National League North, and a change of competitions could be the catalyst that his side need after a relatively indifferent start to the 2024/25 season.

Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Forward Josh Miles is eligible to play in this weekend’s FA Cup tie after receiving confirmation from his parent club Blackpool.

Jay Harris could make his return to action on Saturday following an injury which ruled him out of the previous three fixtures.

Warrington Town goalkeeper Dan Atherton feels that last week’s valiant effort away at Scunthorpe United can help build momentum ahead of the club’s FA Cup second qualifying round clash with Radcliffe on Saturday.

The Yellows came back from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against the early league leaders in the National League North, with the Yellows number one producing a heroic save in added time to preserve the draw.

Whilst many may look towards Atherton as the man who earned Mark Beesley’s side the point, the 24-year-old insists that he cannot take all the plaudits.

“It’s a pleasing moment, but at the end of the day it’s what I’m here to do,” he said.

“It was a massive performance overall from all the lads. They worked their socks off, and in the end it’s a brilliant point.

“Everyone had us down as massive underdogs, and no-one but us expected to go there and take something from the game. To go to their place and take a point from a side who had conceded just once in the league and hadn’t lost all season is a great moment.”
