Preview: Warrington Town vs Liversedge

Warrington Town return to action for the first time in three weeks as they welcome Liversedge to Cantilever Park on Saturday.

Recent matches against Radcliffe and Morpeth Town have fallen foul of the weather, and new dates for both matches have been announced.

Prior to their unofficial break, the Yellows had been on a 16-match unbeaten run in the Northern Premier League, stretching back to November.

Results around them have seen Town drop out of the top five, but having won the reverse fixture 4-0 back in October, they will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run and re-establish their play-off position.

Meanwhile, Sedge come into the game off the back of their own mini-run. They are unbeaten in their last three games, the last of which was a come-from-behind 2-2 draw against Marske United in midweek.

Sean Williams was sent off in the last game against Bamber Bridge, and he will start his three-game suspension.

Meanwhile, Connor Woods could make his second debut for the club after returning on a permanent basis for a club record fee earlier this month.

There are no other fresh injury concerns for Yellows Manager Mark Beesley.

Yellows boss Mark Beesley hopes that his players are mentally refreshed following their enforced period of absence.

They will prepare to take to the field for the first time since March 4, and Beesley insists the break could prove to be a blessing for his players.

“We’ve managed to do some really good training sessions and keep the lads ticking over and I’m hoping they’ve had a mental break, that they’re fresh and ready to go come the last eight games of the season,” he said.

Every game in this league is really difficult. Liversedge are on a good little run and they’re not losing many games, and it’s going to be tough.

Matty McDonald believes Liversedge will provide a different test to most, as the squad looks to return to the play-off spots this weekend.

“I think it will be a different challenge, because last time we were playing against a team that were quite happy to sit behind the ball, so it’ll be interesting to see if they do the same again,” the midfielder said.

“Now they’re fighting for something like we are, so I’m sure it will be a competitive match.

“Every game is tough in this league and anyone can beat anyone on their day, but they will come needing and wanting to get a result.”
