Preview: Warrington Town vs Bishop’s Stortford

Warrington Town prepare for another fixture on home soil as they welcome Bishop’s Stortford to Cantilever Park this Saturday in the National League North.

The Yellows will look to complete the double over the Blues after their 4-1 victory at the RDA Stadium in October – with goals from Connor Woods (2), Josh Amis and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts rounding off an emphatic performance in Hertfordshire.

Nevertheless, Mark Beesley’s side will be expecting a tough battle against this weekend’s visitors, who will be aiming for an important three points in their bid for survival.

Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

There are no fresh injury concerns for the Yellows ahead of Saturday’s clash against Bishop’s Stortford.

Captain Josh Amis continues to fight for a spot back in the starting line-up, having featured as a substitute in the previous two fixtures following his return from injury.

Warrington Town manager Mark Beesley has warned his squad not to underestimate this weekend’s opponents when Bishop’s Stortford visit WA4.

Despite sitting at the bottom of the National League North table on 17 points, the Blues have demonstrated the threat that they pose at times throughout the season, particularly in their 6-1 victory over National League Aldershot Town in the FA Trophy back in January.

Beesley admits that his side has been undone in games where they aren’t at their best, and will therefore treat Saturday’s visitors no different to any other side in the division.

“It’s unfortunate for them, and obviously we don’t know the full circumstances behind it. The travel for them is clearly difficult,” Beesley said.

“The way we’re looking at it is they beat Aldershot 6-1 not too long ago, so they have got quality. When we went down there as well, they played some really good stuff.

“We’ll respect them and treat them no differently to how we treated Brackley last week, or any other team.

“It’s important that we’re on our game, because if we’re not, we’ve seen already that we can quickly get found out.”
