Warrington Town hit the road for the first time this season as Mark Beesley’s side travel to Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday night.
Buoyed by a dramatic 2-0 victory at home to Morpeth Town on the opening day, the Yellows will be keen to kick on and record back-to-back wins to start their 2022/23 Northern Premier League campaign.
They will likely come up against a Stalybridge side with a point to prove, with Chris Willcock’s side beaten 2-0 by South Shields on Saturday.
Last season saw the Yellows record 3-0 victories, home and away, against the Celts.
In October, goals from Jordan Buckley, Sean Williams and Ben Hough rounded off a 3-0 win at Cantilever Park, before a double from Matty Grivosti and another from Luke Duffy sealed a second triumph of the season at Bower Fold in March.
Town haven’t conceded in any of their last three meetings with Tuesday’s hosts, and have lost just once in their last six encounters.
Yellows boss Mark Beesley has challenged his squad to keep putting themselves in peak physical condition, with so many fixtures coming up over the early weeks of the season.
The club will play six more matches before the end of August, with involvement in cup competitions set to begin next month.
Tuesday’s Northern Premier League fixture at Bower Fold kicks off at 7:45pm. Match tickets, which are available to buy online and at the turnstiles, are priced as follows:
