Preview: Stalybridge Celtic vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town’s 2022/23 Cheshire Senior Cup campaign begins on Tuesday night at Stalybridge Celtic.

The competition will see 27 teams compete for the right to be crowned regional champions as the Yellows make their second trip of the season to Bower Fold.

Having won 1-0 in the league back in August thanks to a first-half header from Tom Hannigan, Mark Beesley’s side will be keen to replicate their success and record a fourth successive victory in all competitions.

Yellows boss Mark Beesley insists he will field a number of his first team squad at Bower Fold for Tuesday evening’s fixture.

The match presents an opportunity for some of the club’s fringe players to gain extra minutes and impress ahead of their upcoming league and cup matches.

“We need to keep momentum, regardless of which game comes next,” he said. “We need to be ready. 

“We’ve got 16 fit players, so they’ll all be involved, with maybe one or two youngsters.”
