Warrington Town will embark on a new chapter in the club’s history this weekend as their debut season in the National League North begins with a trip to Southport.
Promoted via the play-offs in 2022/23, the Yellows will hope to start their latest adventure on a positive note as they prepare to lock horns with their near neighbours.
Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.
Mark Beesley will be without captain Josh Amis for around the opening 10 weeks of the season as he starts his recovery from a knee injury sustained during pre-season.
Midfielder Jay Harris and forward Matty Grivosti will also be assessed after picking up minor knocks during the club’s recent friendlies.
Left-back Andy White says the squad are itching to get their debut National League North campaign underway.
White, who has previously experienced success in the National Leagues during his time at Altrincham, admits Saturday’s trip to Haig Avenue will be a good indicator of where the squad are at, at such an early stage in proceedings.
The left-back is also excited to see how a squad largely consisting of last season’s promotion-winners will fare in the league above.
“It has felt to be back out there with the lads and working hard to make sure we’re ready to go,” he said.
“Getting good results in pre-season does instil confidence to a certain extent, but I don’t read too much into friendly results.
“All minds are on the opener at Southport, and August 5 can’t come quick enough.”
Saturday’s National League North fixture at Haig Avenue kicks off at 3pm.
