Following their New Year’s Day victory over local rivals Chester, Warrington Town will embark on the long but familiar journey to the north-east to take on South Shields in the National League North.
A much-improved performance in the second leg of their double-header against Chester saw the Yellows move up to 12th in the league table with 36 points in their maiden campaign at Step 2, putting them level with this weekend’s opponents.
Mark Beesley’s side produced an inspired comeback when South Shields visited Cantilever Park in October, fighting back to claim a point in a 2-2 draw after spending virtually all game with 10 men following Andy White’s early dismissal.
Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.
Yellows defender Mitch Duggan is in line to make his 200th appearance for the club, while midfielder Matty McDonald is pushing to make his first start after recovering from injury.
The South Shields fixture is expected to come too early for centre-back Evan Gumbs as he continues to work his way back to fitness following a hernia injury.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Mark Beesley’s side.
