Warrington Town will travel to the Neuven Stadium on Saturday to face off against fellow promotion hopefuls Radcliffe in the Northern Premier League.
Despite the postponement of last weekend’s fixture away at Morpeth Town, the Yellows will have been boosted by the addition of forward Connor Woods, who scored six goals in 12 appearances during his two-month loan spell earlier in the season.
Having beaten Radcliffe 1-0 at home back in October, Mark Beesley’s side will be hoping to put in another strong performance against their close rivals who sit four points above them in second place and extend their current 16-game unbeaten run.
New signing Connor Woods will go straight into contention for Saturday’s fixture after completing a permanent move from Southport on Wednesday.
The postponement of last week’s clash at Morpeth Town means that midfielder Sean Williams will be unavailable as he continues to serve his ban for the red card he received against Bamber Bridge.
With competition high for a play-off spot, the Yellows could climb up to third with a win, while defeat could see them end the day outside of the top five.
Standing in their way is a Radcliffe side that has only lost once since the beginning of the year.
Manager Mark Beesley insists his players are under no illusions regarding the size of the task.
“We’re concentrating on what we’ve got to do. We’ve got a tough game on Saturday against an excellent team and we’ve got to be ready for it,” he said.
“We’ve got good experience, but we’ve got good young players who have been with us for a while, and that’s the key to it.
“We put the work in on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and hopefully the experiences of last year will stand us in good stead.”
Warrington Town midfielder Bohan Dixon is expecting a tough encounter against an in-form Radcliffe this weekend but is nevertheless excited by the prospect of showing what his side is made of as they head into the business end of the season.
“Personally I look forward to the big games, and Radcliffe is a big test.
“They have quality and so do we. We will be ready to play them and everyone else to get promoted out of this league.
“We have everything in this squad to get promoted, but preparation is key because it isn’t going to be gifted to us.”
Saturday’s Northern Premier League fixture at the Neuven Stadium kicks off at 3:00pm.
