Warrington Town will look to bounce back to winning ways on Tuesday night as they travel to Bamber Bridge in the Northern Premier League.
Following consecutive defeats in league and cup, the Yellows will be keen to show their character and pick up three big points on the road.
They begin the latest round of midweek fixtures in 13th place, level on points with tonight’s opponents but ahead on goal difference.
And against a Brig side buoyed by back-to-back wins, Mark Beesley’s side will need to be wary of the threat ahead of their latest challenge.
The Yellows were emphatic winners when the two teams last met on New Year’s Day, with goals from Mitch Duggan, Evan Gumbs, Josh Amis and Sean Williams sealing a 4-1 victory at Cantilever Park.
When they last faced off at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium, however, Town were forced to come from two goals down to rescue a point, with Matty Grivosti and Ben Hough striking either side of half-time.
Manager Mark Beesley says his side must take confidence from Saturday’s defeat to FC United of Manchester, having been thwarted by an inspired display from visiting goalkeeper Wyll Stanway.
The young stopper produced a Man of the Match display, making four outstanding saves to keep his side in the contest, denying Sean Williams and also Isaac Buckley-Ricketts on multiple occasions.
While admitting the result wasn’t ideal, Beesley believes his side need to turn a corner and show their defensive resilience.
“We’ve got to take positives from the second half,” he said. “We’ve got to keep a clean sheet.
“The irony is we’re defending really well, but we’re giving a goal away every week with some kind of error. It’s football, and hopefully that’ll change.
“We’ve got to dust ourselves down, keep believing and hope that these chances start going in.”
Tuesday’s Northern Premier League fixture at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium kicks off at 7:45pm.
