Warrington Town are gearing up to play twice in the space of 72 hours over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The Yellows travel to Ashton United with their unbeaten record this season still in-tact, before welcoming local rivals Nantwich Town to Cantilever Park on Monday afternoon.
Both matches provide the opportunity for Mark Beesley’s side to build further momentum ahead of a gruelling run of fixtures over the coming weeks.
Warrington Town manager Mark Beesley says the draw at home to Atherton Collieries may prove to be a good one.
Jordan Buckley’s first half opener was cancelled out by former Yellows striker Scott Bakkor after half-time and the two sides had to settle for a 1-1 draw in midweek.
Speaking after the match, the Yellows boss praised goalscorer Buckley, and said that picking up a point, despite not being at their best, bodes well for the season.
Young Warrington Town midfielder Matty McDonald has challenged his team-mates to kick on after a positive start to the new season.
McDonald, who has made three substitute appearances so far this season, says that on a personal note he hopes to challenge for a regular first team spot after overcoming a series of injuries which blighted his 2021/22 campaign.
“It’s only early days in the season, but it’s the start we were after and we need to make sure we continue that,” he said.
