Preview: Atherton Collieries vs Warrington Town

A third consecutive away game beckons for Warrington Town as they prepare to visit Atherton Collieries on Tuesday night.

The Yellows come into the game on a seven-game unbeaten streak, having come from behind to defeat Rylands 2-1 last weekend.

Town currently occupy fourth place in the league table and could consolidate their play-off position with three more points on the road.

They will face a Colls side in desperate need of a victory, having drawn two and lost one of their last three league matches.

Yellows manager Mark Beesley has hinted that squad rotation might be crucial as his side prepare for their fifth fixture in the space of 15 days.

The likes of Isaac Buckley-Ricketts, Luke Duffy and Stefan Mols didn’t make it off the bench on Saturday, and Beesley says he’ll need to get the balance of his squad right as the club looks to further build momentum.

“For us, we’ve just got to keep concentrating on what’s up next,” he said.

“We’ve got a really tough game on Tuesday. Again, we’re playing a team that has had a bit of a rest today, so they’ll be fresher than us.

“We’ve got to pick the right team. Luke Duffy had probably been our best player in the last couple of games, and he didn’t get out on the pitch against Rylands.

“It’s a harsh decision, but we felt that was something we needed to do.

“That’ll happen a little bit through the season. Lads aren’t happy; they want to be playing, but they have to understand that there’s reasoning and thought behind it.

“When you’re getting good results, you want to keep playing, and it’s important that we’re ready for Tuesday.”
