Warrington Town full-back Murphy Bennett believes the squad has the fight and determination needed to successfully navigate a long run of upcoming away games in the league.
The Yellows
fell to defeat at home to promotion-chasing King’s Lynn Town last time out, but a strong second-half showing leaves Paul Carden’s side in good stead ahead of a tough schedule.
Six of Warrington Town’s next seven league games are away from the Cal.Delivery Stadium, starting this Saturday against Hereford.
Hereford are chasing a play-off finish in the National League North, but Bennett says the players are determined to give their all to secure a positive result.
“We understand the situation we find ourselves in,” he said.
“There are no easy games or free passes, and it’s on us as players to turn our form around.
“I think there were some positives to take from Saturday. If we can build on what went well against King’s Lynn and fix up on some other things, there’s no reason why we can’t go to Hereford and give them a real game.
“Hopefully we can come back with something to show for our efforts.”
A long away run can provide difficulty for any side across the division.
And with the Yellows currently sitting at the wrong end of the National League North table, Paul Carden’s side will be keen to pick up as many positive results as possible over the coming weeks.
Having already taken points from Hereford, plus fellow high-flyers Scunthorpe United, Kidderminster Harriers, Brackley Town and Chester during the current season, Bennett has urged the squad to continue their habit of picking up results against the so-called bigger names in the division.
“As a group, we’ve enjoyed playing the bigger sides in this league and know that we need to raise our game, no matter who the opposition is,” the 20-year-old said.
“It’s important that we put points on the board. Things haven’t always gone our way lately, but it’s on us as a group to turn things around.
“We have the quality to improve results, and I’m confident that we will.”
