Warrington Town defender Mitch Duggan is relishing his new role as a centre-back for the Yellows alongside captain Mark Roberts.
The 24-year-old has been a major part of the club’s defensive success so far this season, claiming 12 clean sheets, including their most recent win over Chasetown – a victory that saw Town progress to the second round of the FA Trophy.
Duggan’s stint at centre-back has seen him partner skipper Roberts, an experienced defender with significant football league experience.

“It definitely is a partnership that can only get stronger,” said Duggan. “Robbo (Mark Roberts) has a lot of experience, so he’s been helping me through the games.
“Of course, me being small for a centre-back and him being a ‘normal’ sized centre-back, we’ve got a good mix of everything and work well with each other. Long may it continue.
“Keeping clean sheets is very important to us. Personally, as a more defensive player, I take a lot of pride in keeping clean sheets.
“I back us to always score goals at the other end with the players we’ve got, so as long as we do everything we can to not concede goals, I’m sure that will only help us to win the three points on Saturday and continue the run that we’re on.”
The Yellows will hope to extend their eight-game unbeaten run when they travel to the Don Amott Arena this weekend to face Mickleover.
Previewing the Pitching In Northern Premier League clash, Duggan said: “No matter who you play in this league regardless of the position in the table, it will always be a tough game.
“With us being on a good run, they’ll do all they can to stop us. But I feel we’ve put together this run without really playing to the level that we can, so hopefully we continue it on Saturday.”
