Matty McDonald joins Marine

Warrington Town can confirm that midfielder Matty McDonald has departed the club to join Marine after the two clubs agreed a compensation fee.

The Yellows had offered McDonald a new deal for the 2025/26 season, which meant as per FA rules, the club was entitled to compensation if he decided to move elsewhere as he is under the age of 24.

Following an approach by Marine, the two clubs have agreed a fee, including a sell-on clause, which prevents the deal having to go to a tribunal.

McDonald spent four seasons at the Cal.Delivery Stadium, making his debut against Marine in September 2021 in the FA Cup, in what was his only appearance for the Yellows during that campaign.

He was a key part of the team that won promotion to National League North via the play-offs in 2022/23, and was a regular at Step 2 last season, playing 47 times, scoring in the win over Kidderminster.

In total, McDonald scored 16 goals in 114 appearances for the Yellows and the club wish him the best for the future.
