Matty Grivosti excited for ‘surreal’ Cantilever Park return

Former Warrington Town forward Matty Grivosti admits it will be a strange feeling returning to Cantilever Park in the colours of another team on Tuesday night.

After a breakthrough season at the Yellows in 2021/22, the 19-year-old left the club after being offered his first professional contract at League One side Bolton Wanderers.

Now he will return to the ground where he made his breakthrough, and he insists excitement is high ahead of his visit to familiar surroundings.

“It’ll feel strange going into those away changing rooms – I’ll have to divert myself from the usual ones,” he joked.

“I can’t wait though. There are some familiar faces, fans, players and coaches, who I haven’t seen since I left the club.

“The fans were on Twitter saying a lot of congratulations when I left the club, so I’m looking forward to chatting with everyone again.”

Grivosti has also credited the impact of former Yellows boss Paul Carden and current manager Mark Beesley on his development over the last 18 months.

“They were massive. I loved playing under Paul Carden, and when he left it was a little bit of a shock,” he admitted.

“I didn’t know where my development would go from there, but luckily Bees took over.

“It really helped me kick on, and it’s always nice to have a familiar face to carry on progressing under.”
