Midfielder Matty Grivosti is enjoying the learning experience with Warrington Town in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division.
The 18-year-old impressed during pre-season having come to the club via the Fowler Education Football Academy (FEFA), and was signed by manager Paul Carden for the 2021/22 campaign.
Grivosti, sponsored by Ryan Bate, has made 12 appearances for the Yellows so far this season, including six starts in the league and FA Cup, and has scored four goals, the club’s second-joint goalscorer alongside striker Josh Amis.
“It’s been a great experience,” he said.
“So far every game is a challenge and I’ve had some good games and some not as good as I’d like, but having the lads around me has been massive. They have all been great in helping me develop.
“It’s of course a tough competitive league, but as a group we want to be as high as possible and with our squad we believe we can go even higher up the table.
“Since joining Warrington it’s been great and I’ve enjoyed every minute.
“I’ve been learning a lot every week from Cards (Paul Carden) and Bees (Mark Beesley), but also being supported by the lads to allow me to learn and having experienced players to help me. I’m just hoping I can perform when I get my chances and help the team to push on.”
His move to the Yellows has given Grivosti his first taste of competitive football, in which he added: “It’s a great league. I’ve had to adapt to the intensity and quality but with the players we have I can feel confident that I have trained at these intensities with quality players, so I’m always ready for the games.
“I think I’ve started well. I’ve had some good performances but it’s about maintaining the high standards and performing week-in, week-out.
“I definitely want to have the team finish as high up in the table as possible and of course secure a play-off place.
“For my personal game I’d like to get more goals as all players do, but this is only achieved by working hard on the pitch and creating chances which I think I can do.”
The side return to action this weekend with a trip to Grantham Town in the Premier Division, and return to Cantilever Park on Saturday, November 6, with the visit of Hyde United.
Previewing the weekend’s clash, Grivosti added: “It’s a tough away trip, definitely. It’s a long journey.
“Only being new to the league, I never know what to expect but with the manager and players, they always keep me up to date and then I can prepare properly for what’s ahead.”
Tickets are now available for all our home fixtures in November, December and January.
